In February, Carnival, of course, whose date is not fixed but ends on Mardi Gras. On February 2, there is also the Festa de Iemanjá, in the Rio Vermelho neighborhood, in homage to the goddess of the sea, where offerings are placed from the beach.
In June, the Festas Juninas celebrate Saint John, when the city is adorned with colorful banners and "country" dances and music invade the streets and squares of the historic center.
New Year's Eve on December 31, with several beaches hosting spectacular fireworks and many public or private parties organized throughout the city.
